Good Morning, Sir, Jesus Loves You!
As I walked to the office last year, I waited for the “walk” sign to light up. Another man was waiting for the lights to change in the other direction. “Good morning, sir” he said “I just want to tell you that Jesus loves you.”
He had “John 3:16” embroidered on his baseball cap, and he smiled as he spoke. I said “I know, I trusted the Lord 35 years ago and I haven’t looked back.” He told me “I’d like to share my story with you, if you don’t mind.”
He had smoked cigarettes for 45 years of his life, had lived homeless in Tampa, Florida for 25 years, and had smoked crack cocaine for 23 years. He heard the good news about Jesus 10 years ago and been “clean” ever since. He didn’t have a lot in this life, even now, but clearly fully appreciated what he had in Jesus and was sharing his simple message, “Jesus loves you,” with everyone he met.
We shook hands and wished each other well, and parted. I finished my walk with both a tear in my eye and a smile on my face. My day had been made.
Keep going in whatever you do for Christ. You don’t know who will be touched, or how affected, but the piece you place may help someone that is seeking freedom from their helplessness and addiction.
