Grateful to God who loves me, upholds me always
I was brought up going to church from childhood, but come teenage years found it boring and decided I wasn’t going back. I used to go to church sometimes after that, but never found answers to my questions, though I always prayed because I believed in God.
When I was mum to a ten-year-old boy who became seriously ill with acute nephritis (affecting his heart and kidneys) and was in York Hill Hospital in Glasgow, dialysis was spoken about by the consultant who told me I had a seriously ill child. I was so terrified I asked God to help me, and He did – my son Kevin was made well. That night I promised God I would follow Him always. I started by going to the church in my village and it was there I found out more about Jesus, Son of God, my Saviour.
I decided to give my heart to Him and asked Him into my life. That same son died ten years later with cancer, but during that time he believed for himself, too.
I know where my hope and strength come from always. Psalm 139 tells me how much God knows me, He accepted me with all my failings, and loves me always, He will lead me on the right path.
