I was Blind Before, But Now I See
In 2009, while visiting Hong Kong to see my dying mum, I was asked by my sister whether I wanted to go to heaven when I died. I said yes because it sounded better than to go to hell! She told me that if I took 3 simple steps, I would be saved. The first step was to confess & repent of my sins; second was to believe Jesus Christ had come to the world, died on the cross for my sins, and was raised from the dead; and third was to receive Jesus as my Lord the Saviour.
As it is written in (the bible) Romans 10:9 ‘That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.’
Those steps sounded familiar to me as I studied Bible in the high school, but I treated it as an academic subject and never thought that it had anything to do with my life. However, the word ‘heaven’ seems to be a paradise to me. If my sisters are going there, I want to be there too. I trusted my sister so I accepted Jesus to come into my heart. Before I left HK, my sister encouraged me to read the Bible and to go to a local church to learn more about Jesus and the truth.
While I was flying home, I was wondering whether I had made the right choice in accepting Jesus, who might not even be real. So many questions came to my mind and I decided to research and look for the answers.
(In the Bible) Matthew 7:7 said “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” It took me six months before I set foot in the church.
I also found out that the Bible says “all scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16)
So that means it has all the answers and solutions for everything. It helps me to live an abundant and victorious life. By knowing more about Jesus and the truth from the scriptures, I found that God is real and I was baptized in 2011. I rejoice everyday now for I know the creator of this world; the mighty and powerful God is living in me. He is my counsellor, my comforter, my guardian, my protector, my provider, my healer, my deliverer and my Lord and Saviour. How blessed I am!
He is an awesome and amazing God. In the last 9 years, all my siblings – 2 brothers and 5 sisters – have been baptized. By the way, my mum also accepted Jesus a month before she passed away. What a great blessing! Praise to the Lord!
I can say I was blind before but now I see.
