Proof of the Power of Prayer
Some years ago, my neighbour’s young son started limping. His doctor thought he was developing a bad habit & needed to walk normally. However, it turned out that he had “perthes”, a rare childhood condition of the hip which, if left untreated, could have serious consequences. This resulted in him being admitted to hospital and put on traction.
At the same time, a colleague at work also had a son with perthes who had to have an operation on his hip. My colleague found it stressful seeing her son come out of the operating theatre and insisted that I should support the other mum.
When I was with a group of friends, I asked for prayer for my neighbour’s son. The next time I saw his mum, I asked how he was, the reply being that there was no change.
The following week we prayed for him again.
I asked again how he was and was told that there was an amazing improvement. He didn’t need to have an operation and it wasn’t long before he was back home again, playing and going to school.
This is proof of the power of prayer, upholding people in need before a loving God.
